Water Conservancy and Transportation

Founded in 1959, the School of Water Conservancy and Transportation focuses on infrastructure-related industries.

The school emphasizes interdisciplinary integration, multi-level talent cultivation, and the combination of teaching and research. Over the past six decades, it has trained more than 10,000 senior engineering professionals for China's water conservancy, civil engineering, and transportation sectors. The school now offers a complete education system offering bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees.

The school has a faculty of over 260 full-time teachers, including 92 professors and 105 associate professors. It also has four academicians.

It offers two key provincial-level disciplines — water conservancy engineering and transportation engineering. The school hosts a postdoctoral research station in water conservancy engineering, a doctoral program in water conservancy engineering, and a professional doctoral program in transportation. It also offers master's degree programs in water conservancy engineering, transportation engineering, and civil and hydraulic engineering. More than 1,100 master's and doctoral students are currently enrolled.

At the undergraduate level, the school offers four full-time programs: hydraulic and hydropower engineering, hydrology and water resources engineering, water supply and drainage science and engineering, and road, bridge, and river-crossing engineering. A total of 1,394 undergraduate students are currently enrolled.

The school houses three national-level research platforms: the National Key Laboratory of Tunnel Boring Machines and Intelligent Maintenance, the National-Local Joint Engineering Laboratory for Major Infrastructure Inspection and Repair Technologies, and the International Joint Research Center for Trenchless Technology of Underground Infrastructure.

In the past five years, the school has secured over 480 million yuan ($66.96 million) in research funding, published over 900 SCI/EI-indexed papers, and released more than 70 academic monographs. Undergraduate students have published 913 academic papers, obtained 494 authorized patents, secured 120 software copyrights, and won over 20 national-level competition awards.

The school maintains cooperative relationships with more than 20 universities and research institutions worldwide. More than 10 renowned experts from countries such as the United States, Japan, and Germany serve as visiting or distinguished professors. In recent years, the school has accelerated its internationalization by establishing global research collaboration platforms, hosting international conferences, sending young faculty abroad for training and exchange, offering joint degree programs for students, and recruiting international undergraduate and doctoral students.
