School of Ecology and Environment was established in in August 2019 by integrating related majors and disciplines. With the state-of-the-art facilities and advanced capabilities,School of Ecology and Environment hosts a wide range of research projects in environment science as well as develop innovative solutions for environmental engineering design. The school is staffed with 17 professors, 29 associate professors, 65 master tutors, and 75 academic personnel holding doctoral degrees.
The school can be traced back to the undergraduate program of environmental engineering first offered in the former Zhengzhou Institute of technology in 1986, and the program of environmental science offered in 2002. In 2000, the master program in environmental engineering was offered, and then master in environmental science was offered in 2004. Currently the master program of environmental science and engineering (academic type) and master program of resource and environment engineering (professional type) are offered in School of Ecology and Environment.
The School of Ecology and Environment has established the Sino-German Research Institute of Carbon Neutrality & Green Development, Henan Provincial Collaborative Engineering Technology Research Center for Pollution Control & Carbon Reduction, Henan Provincial Key Laboratory of Environmental Chemistry & Low-carbon Technology, Henan Provincial International Joint Laboratory of Energy & Environment, Henan Provincial International Joint Laboratory of Environment & Resources, Geothermal & Ecological Geology Research Center, as well as other foundational platforms focused on promoting green initiatives and low-carbon practices. The school has undertaken a variety of projects including National Key Research and Development Program, National Natural Science Fund Project, National Key Science & Technology Special Projects, as well as various provincial/ministerial projects.
School of Ecology and Environment has one first-class discipline "environmental science and Engineering", and one secondary disciplines the environmental science and engineering. The discipline has formed four distinctive aspects: water pollution control theory and technology, air pollution control theory and technology, solid waste recycling technology, and environmental remediation theory & technology.
The objective of this master’s program is to cultivate innovative talents in the field of environment and related industries, who possess a strong sense of social responsibility, a clear mission, a well-rounded personality, an international perspective, extensive knowledge and comprehensive abilities. Graduate students are expected to lead future social progress and contribute significantly to the development of civilization
