Architecture

The School of Architecture at Zhengzhou University offers three primary disciplines: Architecture, UrbanPlanning, and Landscape Architecture. The school currently hosts two national first-level undergraduate programs and two master programsin Architecture and Urban Planning.The undergraduate program in Architecture was established in 1958. In 1986, the program was authorized to confer master’s degrees in Architectural Design andTheory. Since 1997, Architecture program has been continuously ranked as a key first-level discipline in Henan Province. In 1999, the school passed the national evaluation for undergraduate education in Architecture, and in 2011, it passed the graduate education evaluation for the master’s degree in Architecture. In 2020, the school was authorized to offer a doctoral program in Chinese Architectural History and Theory (Heritage Conservation). In 2024, it was approved to offer a doctoral program in Architecture and Urban Design Technology. The school has developed a complete educational system for undergraduate, master, and doctoral studiesin Architecture.The undergraduate program in Urban Planning was established in 1995 and gained the right to confer master’s degrees in 2006. In 2015, the undergraduate program passed the national evaluation for undergraduate education, and in 2019, it passed the evaluation for professional graduate education in Urban Planning.The Landscape Architecture program originated from the Art Design program in 2002, and was officially renamed to Landscape Architecture in 2013 following approval by the Ministry of Education.

The School of Architecture boasts a highly qualified and experienced faculty team, comprising full-time professors and lecturers, laboratory technicians, and foreign experts. Currently, the school possesses more than ten industry-university-research platforms and teams, including three provincial laboratories, one provincial innovation research team, one provincial excellent teaching organization, and three provincial internship and practice platforms.Relying on the specialized laboratories of Zhengzhou University, the school conducts research and teaching activities,strengthen cooperation and academic exchanges with prestigious international universities. The school is committed to advancing educational reforms,andproviding students—both domestic and international—with greater opportunities to enhance their academic capabilities, broaden their intellectual horizons, and improve their international competitiveness.
