As the largest universities (in terms of student number) in China, as a national key university of World First-class University project, Zhengzhou University is funded by the Henan Provincial Government and Ministry of Education (MOE). The University locates in the historic city, Zhengzhou, capital of Henan, the cradle of Chinese civilization and the origin place of Shaolin Kung Fu. Zhengzhou University comes from the merger of three universities: former Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou University of Technology and Henan Medical University, with four campuses: Main Campus, South Campus, North Campus, and Medical Campus covering an area of 1070 acres.
There are 110 bachelor, 256 master, and 127 doctor programs of 12 disciplines offered by 46 schools of Zhengzhou University. Currently, there are 72,000 students studying in ZZU. Among them, more than 2,700 international students are pursuing their bachelor, master, or doctor degree in ZZU.
Zhengzhou University has witnessed its rapid development from a local institution into the global renowned university. In the U.S. News Ranking, ZZU ranks 385 globally and 39 in China. Moreover, 13 disciplines of ZZU ranks the top 1%, including Chemistry and clinical medicine rank the top 1‰ in the ESI index ranking.
Zhengzhou University has sponsored numerous students to pursue their degree each year. For excellent international students, Zhengzhou University will provide various types of scholarship to sponsor their study at ZZU. Since 2017, annually more than 500 new applicants have been awarded with various types of scholarship, even during the period of COVID-19, many universities cut their scholarship seat. Zhengzhou University make great efforts to continue the financial support to excellent international applicants to study in Zhengzhou University.
INTRODUCTION OF 1+4 PROGRAM
The 1+4 Program is a new program offered by Zhengzhou University for international applicants who favor bachelor program instructed in Chinese. It consists of a one-year intensive Chinese language training program and a four-year Bachelor's Degree program instructed in Chinese. This program is designed to meet the demand of international students who intend to study in China but cannot satisfy the language requirement. In the first year, they are scheduled to take intensive Chinese training in School of International Education. They are supposed to pass the HSK-4 test in this year.
The one-year Chinese training program begins in September and ends next June. Qualified students are allowed to enter their Bachelor programs in next September, and others who fail to satisfy the language requirement, must take 2nd-year of language training. The program consists of two semesters, and each consists of 20 weeks. Students are required to attend approximately 24-hour classes every week. Major courses include Comprehensive Chinese, Chinese Listening & Speaking, Chinese Reading, Chinese Writing, and HSK Enhancement (6 class hours).
Having passed the HSK-4 and comprehensive selection organized by Zhengzhou University, students can continue their preferred bachelor program. Four programs are prepared specially for international students, with courses and curriculum adapted to meet the demand:
1. Bachelor program of Tourism Management by School of Management,
2. Bachelor program of International Economics and Trade by School of Business,
3. Bachelor program of Business of Administration by School of Business,
4. Bachelor program of International Chinese Language Education by School of Liberal Arts.
Students also can choose other CMI bachelor program and study together with Chinese students, not international students.
SELECTION CRITERIA
In each June, Zhengzhou University will start a comprehensive selection, which will check student overall performance, including Chinese course results, HSK level, attendance rate, daily conduct, dorm discipline, and interview results. Qualified students will be selected for Bachelor program they applied. The tuition and scholarship awarding will be confirmed.

TUITION, FEE & SCHOLARSHIP
l Tuition of One-year Chinese Language Program: 15,000 CNY/ Year.
All qualified students will be awarded Henan Government Scholarship. The amount is 10,000 CNY. Students only pay the rest tuition of 5000 CNY for the 1st year language training. Students with HSK 3 (>180) can apply for exemption from the 5000 CNY.
l Tuition of Bachelor Programs: 18,000 (Art), and 20,000 (Sci & Eng) CNY/ Year.
There are two types of scholarship available for excellent student. Type I will cover all the tuition. Type II is 15,000 CNY/year only, and student should pay the rest 3000(Arts) or 5000(Sci & Eng) CNY/Year. Based on their performance of previous year, students will be assessed, and then awarded the equivalent type of scholarship.
l Accommodation: 5000 or 10,000 CNY/ Year for on-campus dorm. The seats of on-campus dorm are limited. Students also can choose off-campus flat at different cost.
l International students should also pay their living cost, medical insurance, textbooks, health checks, and residence permit applications fees.
QUALIFICATION
A Non-Chinese citizen, of the age between 18 and 24, with an educational background equal to high school graduation (or equivalent), healthy, with non-criminal record.
Note: Applicants score must reach 70% or more of all core subjects of high school.
WHEN TO APPLY
The application deadline for 1+4 Bachelor Program is July 20.
NUMBER OF SEAT
For each international class (for international students only), there are 40 seats / bachelor program.
