Introduction
Programs of Control Science and Engineering, initially offered in 1963, is a subject focus on studying the theory, method, technology and engineering application of control. Our school began to offer the program of master degree in 1989 and doctorate of second-class discipline of Control Theory and Engineering in 2005. We have the postdoctoral research station of Control Science and Engineering in 2009 and received the right to grant doctorate of first-class discipline of Control Science and Engineering in 2010. Through 50 years’ efforts, this discipline is featured by innovative theoretical research, remarkable economic benefit and huge development potential.
Objective
The objective of this plan aims to prepare students with all-round development for an outstanding engineer. Students should have systematic and professional knowledge ofControl Science and Engineeringalso to have the abilities to perform system analysis and integration, system design and operation, research and development in the field of control engineering. Graduates should meet the following requirements in terms of knowledge and ability:
1. Have good moral and psychological quality, and with healthy habits.
2. Have enough knowledge of natural science, excellent communicating ability in English and good computer skills.
3. Master the basic knowledge of Control Science and Engineering, computer theory and skill, know better the recent development of the discipline.

Thesis Writing
After completing all required courses, students can choose the appropriate topics of his/her thesis/dissertation with the guidance of academic panel or supervisors. Students are expected to read enough articles of the latest development of the field before writing the literature review. At the same time students are also expected to carry out exploration on practical problem. Students should submit their Research Proposal at the end of second semester. Approved by the Academic Panel and supervisors, students can implement the study. During the following period, students are expected to report the development to their supervisors regularly. Every semester, the panel and supervisor will monitor the development and provide necessary support and guidance. The period of dissertation writing should be no less than one years. The dissertation must be written in a systematic and complete manner, presenting clear concepts, correct argument, realistic description, concise writing structure, smooth and concise writing style, correct calculation, reliable data, and clear icons. The writing should contribute some new knowledge to the field and the length should be no less than 30,000 words. A practice oral defense will be arranged for each student. Only when they pass this defense, can they apply for the formal oral defense.
