The power engineering and engineering thermophysics first-level discipline is aimed at the efficient and clean use of energy. This discipline mainly studies the basic laws of energy in the process of transfer and transformation in the form of heat and work and other forms, and the design, manufacture and operation of equipment and systems that effectively implement these processes are researched in accordance with these laws. This discipline comprehensively applies scientific theories and methods such as mathematics, mechanics, machinery, materials, electronics, control, computers, and instruments, and forms an independent theoretical system and practical examples. It plays a foundation, support and promotion role in the field of national economy and engineering technology, and has an irreplaceable position in the engineering category.
The basic theory and existing achievements of this discipline are widely used in the fields of energy, industry, transportation, agriculture and national defense, and promote the development of energy utilization and modern power technology in society.
Refrigeration and cryogenic engineering discipline is established based on the basic law of energy transfer and conversion process in the reverse cycle from low temperature to high temperature. This discipline studies the principles and methods for obtaining and maintaining low temperatures, the instruments and equipment needed to achieve this condition, and the engineering applications under low temperature conditions. Research scope consists of refrigeration and cryogenic equipment and systems, freezing and freeze-drying process mechanism, cryogenic biomedical technology, cold storage and transportation technology, automatic control and computer simulation of refrigeration and cryogenic systems, measurement technology and testing equipment of refrigeration and cryogenic engineering, refrigeration, air conditioning and low temperature technology in related fields and energy saving, etc. This discipline is closely related to the national economy and people's lives, and has a wide range of applications in many fields such as machinery, metallurgy, energy, chemical industry, food preservation, artificial environment, biomedicine, low temperature superconductivity, aerospace technology and so on.
